Our Family
My name is Kate Morwell-Neave and I was brought up with ‘lady’ Labradors, starting with the family favorite, Sheba. They were always truly loyal and certainly my best friends.
Once I left school my parents gave me a little black lab which I called Meggie and she went everywhere with me including work. My work was as a Veterinary Nurse and Canine Beautician so she was a welcome addition to the workplace too.
My plan was to breed from her but during her first season, she developed a polyp which meant that she was going to be unsuitable for breeding and led to a heart-breaking day of having her spayed.
Meggie lasted to the grand old age of 15 and loved my eldest son Oliver to bits. Unfortunately, she became incontinent and then continued to live her life out with my parents as it was impossible to keep her with a baby.
When my youngest son was about 4 my husband suggested getting another lab and I jumped at the chance and called her Pebbles. She had four litters and became a proud Mum of 38 puppies. She was a brilliant Mum and has passed this on to her daughters who were my other first breeding labs, Phoebe and Flip Flop.
Phoebe was a black lab and has produced 34 puppies in her litters, she has now like her mum, sadly passed away.
Flip Flop, who was our only yellow, has had all her litters and also sadly passed away.
Only a while ago I added to my clan by buying in one gorgeous new pup, as I needed a new line to continue using my stud, Vinnie from Homersham Labradors. She was chocolate and was born on the 14th of December 2013. We named her Waffles and she had really got her feet under the table, settling in with my other girls perfectly. Unfortunately, due to being diagnosed with hip dysplasia, we had to rehome her to family members where she can be cared for on an individual basis. Pebbles was in her element for a while as she had one more baby to look after!
All our puppies are brought up in the home and are treated as one of the family from day one. I always like potential parents to see my pups as early as is possible in their little lives as this helps with bonding both for the puppy and the potential owner, however, puppies cannot be held until they are at least 14 days old.
Unfortunately, all our original labradors have sadly recently passed but we continued the original line through Pebbles granddaughter Lucy who has brought Weggles into our family to start the next generation. Weggles is now 4 years old and has her own daughter, Twiglet who is expecting her first litter shortly.
They are all thoroughly wormed, first vaccinated, microchipped and are somewhere towards being housetrained as they have access to their outside yard through our dog flap.
